Count Your Blessings...

At our Thanksgiving family gathering yesterday, I brought my fun black notebook paper and "soufflĂ©" pens.  More than one niece asked where I got the pens and wanted them on their Christmas wish list.

I asked everyone to write a list of things they were thankful for or blessings in their lives.  Anonymously.  And that maybe we would guess later.

Some times I start things with no clear idea how to implement them, or execution/finish.  My practical consultant (husband John) said I could just call it an art project.  I wanted to glue these black scraps of paper in our family "Book of Blessings" a gilt-edged monstrous Bible I cavalierly altered.  No, it wasn't a family bible.  But now it is!  We are blessed with an abundance of paper-copies of scriptures that we can carry around easier than this huge tome.  And I could imagine this book as an art relic, personalized.  Like a huge scrap book.  Documenting tender mercies and things we are grateful for as a family.  I left the spelling and parenthesis, but used brackets for art work descriptions.  Can you guess contributors?

12 Ways of Christmas: "Speak" Day 7

"Speak
Symbol: Gift
Scripture: I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people (Psamls 85:8)
Ideas: Gift of the gospel. What this gift means to you personally. Sharing the “good news” with our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. “Joy to the World” DVD give-away." (I have one of these dvds to give away--first one that asks in comments gets it--free, just let me know!)

This heart block (from a FGQG Christmas exchange) looks like it could turn into lips easily, with some judicious black thread/quilting.

Please look here if you have a few minutes to see some beautiful Bible videos. Our Christmas gift to you.

No Camera Trip

See the leaves. The PA farmland. The Amish students at recess. The buggies with left-turn signals and orange triangles. The Oreo cows. My crazy van-load order for lunch at Sonic. Happy students. Reverent students listening to a white-haired Mennonite lady bear her testimony of Christ. All for a trip to see a replica of the traveling Israelite Tabernacle-straight out of the Bible at:

First Day School

With the power out from hurricane Irene, our first day was delayed.  Sam didn't go because the traffic light wasn't working yet, but these two cousins and I walked to school for long awaited first day!
Fist day of seminary is next Tuesday.  Bishopric supported fireside last night "Get the Scoop on Seminary" complete with ice cream bar.  We talked about the role of parents, teachers, students, and how to be active learners.  We showed "Children of Israel" video for an overview of some of the great stories coming up.  We will be studying the OLD TESTAMENT.
