Before we left...a pirate with curly chest hair and an eye patch from make-up, a kind vampire with braces who won't bite you, Hipster Dorothy with pet monkey Toto.
John and his younger self (last year these guys BOTH WORE BATMAN t-shirts as their costume. If they have the same costume next year...?
Suzu has had a Homecoming Spirit Week of dress up...She used the Flash outfit on superhero day.
Wacky Wednesday before school. Amanda on the far left said when people saw Suzanna their jaws dropped and they just stared. She has a water bottle holding her hair up in that high cone shape. It was spectacular, and she says she had a lot of fun.
I found another bling-glitzy witch for a pose.
Our trunk was pretty bare of decorations, one lonely skull...but good candy bars.
Scariest picture: Celidah hamming it up as a vixen from "Dracula" production on post (and my flash wasn't working so I played with the lighting in Picassa).Edited photos with filter, adding shadows, increaing saturation. That is enough creepy Halloween for me.
We may be stormed out next Wednesday with the coming hurricane. Everyone is on alert-mode: buying toilet paper, bread and milk. Expected power outages, maybe no school Tuesday...
My name is Mom-Me at home. Friends who say my given name correctly are highly valued. Jenni-lyn, two distinct sounding names. Not Jen-all-lyn smushed together. I read every day, date husband at least weekly, watch films, daydream, teach early Daily Seminary-Bible Class to (only 13 this year!), cook extravagant meals, make famous fudge, take walks...but mostly I quilt and paint and parent!

Utterly Plumb
This post inspired my morning, and I have 4 pockets made to mail. Join me? Deadline October 22. Do something to help a good cause, and spend a few minutes being creative.
I was suprised how emotionally responsive I feel about this issue. Authentic, genuine, unrestricted, extraordinary, bedazzling women have set a good example.
A suggestion: cut off a pocket from an old pair of jeans to mail in. Jean quilt I made in high school. Recently washed and repaired.

40 Day Fast
The missionaries were quick to clarify: not 40 days of fasting in a row for one person, but consequitive days, like a relay race, taking turns as families for the next 40 days (Oct-10th November) to fast and pray for missionary experiences.
I gave the closing prayer last Sunday in Church, asking for us as a congregation to recognize the missionary experiences when they come, and be brave and act on them.

Meet our friend, Rabia. She stopped the missionaries in the street and told them she wants to become a Christian. I have taught her with the sister missionaries twice, and yesterday my visiting teacher and I went to pick apples with her! She had never seen a cow this close, never picked apples...The hot peppers her husband likes were 25 cents for a big bagful. These are the big mitsu apples from PA. I made pie last night--the apples are so huge it doesn't take very many.

She has given up smoking, continues to learn from the missionaries, and has her baptism scheduled for later this month.Trying Alton Brown's crock pot lasagna recipe during General Conference.
