Kaffe Fasset workship--one of my absolute favorite things I have ever made; Purple quilt is blown up version of smaller blocks, Hen and Chicks. It has fabric in it painted by Emmalyn and Stewart that glows in dark--also one of my favorite quilts, ever. And the murals, both gone, painted over (by me). I did several versions of favorite scriptures around the entry hallway, and experimented often with techniques at home before trying them on friends' homes or clients.

Plan of Salvation baby quilt went to an army wife-new mom; Ron Crew got Primary hand-print quilt; red Snail's Trail is Johnny's (hung in his office for a long time); and Almost Amish is Emma's.

Paper-pieced pineapple for nephew Simon. Orange internet block exchange plus Niner's Group (quilted at stake Pioneer Day) flowers and bee for a red-headed Church new baby, and 9 house block represented each of my siblings--Mom has this one.

Too many toilets already on this blog...Another redone room, wishing I had better photos taken before it was painted out by owner. These were early jobs, paid, but I was still learning and I won't point out all the flaws to you but I can tell I have learned a lot...

I had a plan: I was so busy being a mom and thought I could sketch and someone else would help me paint in murals for speed. Didn't work out as well as I thought, mostly because our schedules were so different, but here is Melissa in front of her turtle paint job. I taught her everything I knew at the time and worked side by side doing the fish, jelly fish, etc.

Wildflower room with huge blooms, fish bathroom, and 2 old columns (now painted out, I learned from owner. Paint is paint. When it is time to redecorate, PAINT! No hard feelings, as long as I have a good portfolio photo, so maybe call me first so I can get a new photo before you paint, please.

I paid a teenager in our ward to help me on the guitar (he owns one, knew intimate details about frets, etc). My second sub-contracting job (must search for fish-turtle room that I hired another teenager artist to help me do).

Mural-ceilings don't need to be plain!

 
 
 
 

Faux-finished tray ceilings, vines, and damask pattern. I love painting ceilings--it becomes a 5th wall to decorate in the room. I heard once (Debbie Travis or Christopher Lowell quote?) that leaving the ceiling white is like a slip showing below a skirt. If white is part of your decorating scheme, that is different. But neglect is a choice, and forgetting about that wonderful ceiling surface is sad!

A castle, a compass rose, clouds, and a cherub (that got painted out, wife client loved it, husband came home hated it. But I had a written contract with final approval clause, and just kachinged it up as change!).
