A Soft Spot for Swatches

If you have a few minutes, check out SwatchSpot. You can lock in colors (but the lock only lasts one additional shuffle. If you really love that color, lock it, then unlock and lock again to keep it in the mix.) I discovered a pattern of triplets, three colors that I LOVE together! After hundreds of random swapping, saving the pallettes I think are beautiful, I can articulate what I like. And it suprised me a little, to be analytical about my reaction to color.

Do these look like me? Can you see the color I have been ignoring, that completes the triad? Yes, orange IS my favorite color most days, but the turquoise and PURPLE combo thrills me! Every single one of the choices I saved had a version of these turquoise & purple-orchid colors---and several were missing the orange.

Color

Yellow tree on the way to a client's home!I LOVE COLOR! I love fall on the east coast. The colors have been vivid this year. Mesmerizing. Beautiful.

I am working a new job, first day today. I got to coordinate and choose colors to go with cute-touristy tins, add the frou-frou on top of the packaging. Fun day. More about that later, when I can show you pictures.

I am enthralled with the contrasts, the color juxtapositions, how one color influences another. Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinski, Franz Marc Jane Sassaman (quilter) are some of my favorite colorists.

Color Play Same Room 2 Shots

Sort of a couple photo. All the kids are gone Friday night except Roxie. Empty house. I am finally done with interview meetings for the day. I can only work 5 hours Saturday and I am out of time for the week. Must conserve hours for the weekends! Turn off my phone? Almost everything has been assigned out. Amazing crew. I like being the boss. But I like stopping for the day, too. Go check out So You Think You Can Quilt voting next week. Vote. For the one you like best, not just for the one you guess is mine. 8<) Theme is circles...

Too Much of a Bright Thing? Nah!

I am not afraid to play with color. Sometimes I make things worse--but sometimes wonderful things happen!

The before picture, non-tilt-ed, color okay. You can see the balloons in the chandelier from Suzu's party. Me in paint shirt (I have a job today). His head was cut off (reason I played with the colors) so we took the following one and called it the end of the shoot.

Untouched.
This is the outside of a church in Havre de Grace where Max sang earlier this month. With a little brighter colors (it was a fuzzy picture to start out, I couldn't ruin it).

That is my advice for the day: play with color! (save a copy, first if photo playing).
