Wedding Dress Emergency

What do you do when you ordered your dress months ago and the week before the wedding you are dieting like crazy and miserable? With the zipper 4 inches down the dress fit wonderfully. The zipper with the tang down stayed securely in place, so we could work with that. When I googled for help, the answer was create a corset tie in replacement for zipper. Instead I made a triangle fill-in, bowed it for camoflauge, used bra extension package and sewed it in at an angle...so bride could get in and out and felt comfortable enough to give hugs. Everyone said it looked great, intentional, beautiful. Congratulations!

Mistletoe in March

Do you see the mistletoe, still hanging in the front hallway? I never took it down from Christmas. Then I thought it was good to keep it around for Valentine's Day. And now, St. Patrick's Day kisses? Kiss me, I AM Irish!
This was my entry for "So You Think You Can Quilt" last month. VINTAGE is the theme this month. Even if you aren't one of the contestants left in the game, you can still WIN PRIZES and make a quilt to fit the theme!

Recent flurry of activity. I took my bag of bows to sew to my seminary meeting and then to the RS wonderful conference and luncheon on Saturday, and even sewed through my couch date with John. We've been downloading episodes of "The Middle" and "Community" and laughing out loud. Together.

What can you tell about a sewer by looking at their ironing board? And where it is? I found this one at a thrift store and bought it for the cool legs--not necessarily to iron with, but it does get used for that, too!

Sweets for My Sweetie

This isn't a quilt, but it should be. Irridescent painted couple on plexiglass and fabric hearts. "Honor marital vows with complete fidelity" from The Family: A Proclamation to the World." The frame broke and the plexiglass cracked, so this is historical. It used to hang in our Red Red bedroom.
