I Discoverd a Cool New Blog

Why do men fear painted wood?
Her before and after pictures teach the lesson better than anything else I've read. And notice how beautiful all the after pictures are! Yes! Time to paint tomorrow!

Saturated Life

I like the less RED face, but I lose John's blue eyes when I de-saturate.

Busy, busy, but who isn't? I am never bored, but often tired.

Silly Grins

There is something about being in the spotlight that makes me feel silly. These photos made me laugh at myself--goofy looks!

We Are Away!

Thanks Deb for helping us get a couple photo on the internet today!

:)

Damask Surprise

Here is evidence that the cats survived their week with me as caretaker. Check out that awesome gold (Ralph Lauren paint-love it!) under-chair rail paint!

And dinning room transformed! Surprise, ANNE! Hope you love it as much as you love my dinning room ceiling.

I couldn't paint her ceiling--no ending place-would have had to continue further than that room...
Did not do all the wall surface--intentional left some breather room.
Dramatic view from front door.

Will barter paint jobs for pool time, yes!

Saturday is a Special Day

Photo from last week one of our biking days...
Oooh, John left before I got a picture of us. He is bike-scout camping with all 3 sons. Tomorrow I will post surprise dinning room--I treated it like I would have if it were mine! If she hates it, it is only paint, easily painted over, if desired.

Hopefully I will get a couple shot posted for Sunday before we take off for NY to see Koehlers. Looking forward to that.

Weird Week

John and I are both busy working census-finishing things up. Maxwell is gone at choir camp, Suzu at young women camp, but two cousins have been here-so still 6 kids. I've been babysitting two cats for a friend...she has an ugly dinning room border I've been peeling off for her (SUPRISE)!
Bringing the mail in, watering the flowers, and we are babysitting the pool, too (with permission, and keeping the chemicals added).

Crazy Sunburned

A more accurate this morning photo would have me lobster red. Doesn't take long, even with sunscreen, for me and mine to cook in the sunshine. This photo from Sunday.

A Still After Video

The video footage from the montage was a direct result of blogger taking TOO long to upload the silly-we-forgot-it-was-in-video-mode-trying-to-take-a-couple-shot moment. And a nod to more couple photos than individual shots of just John-as-Dad. New project in the brainstorming stage!

Bike ride: 38 minutes, including a Free-Cycle stop for an overhead projector! I biked home faster and brought the car to where John was still balancing it on his handlebars. Crazy for free!

My Montage 6/20/10 at OneTrueMedia.com

Happy Dads!

A Few Good Men: I am thankful for a good husband and a good father-by-marriage! Thank you for your good fathering.
Thank you to my dad, too! We pray for Elder Babcock-Grandpa in St. Croix serving a full-time Church mission.

A crabby crab is my latest quilting project. 12x12" raw edge applique with lace (from bottom of a skirt I shortened) as binding edge-reminded me of coral or something you would find underwater. Roxie thinks it looks like two flying fish-that this is on land instead of underwater.

I couldn't find the design source-to whom to give credit for the silly Pixar-looking crab? It made a fun quilt block for the Wild Threads summer exchange.

Biking Us!

4.6 miles. Not all of it uphill, but there were 3 of those. John has been early morning biking for 3 weeks with Sam (sometimes Stewart & Max) in preparation for a scout 200 mile bike trip. Not in one day, like Stewart did.

John has been graciously inviting all of the rest of us. Yesterday I tried it for the first time. Emma came, too. And then we went again this morning: all but Suzu and Roxie. It is an impressive crowd of bikes! We get lots of waves and smiles and patient people as we all cross...

When I was much younger (10 years old) I remember imagining my future family doing whole-family physical activities, like hiking, camping, riding bikes together. There was a moment this morning of "Aha! This is it! This is what I wanted!"

Pedal through the pain. We will take tomorrow off, and then try it again Monday morning. John has been exploring all the nearby routes, trying for variety and a down-hill on the way home. You don't realize how hilly an area is until you are pedaling up it!

I am sure there are good life lesson-analogies for down-shifting in advance, preparing for the coming hill, relaxing on the smooth-sailing downhills, gathering your strength, building muscles by repetition, creating good family exercise traditions...

Pretend Us

Tiki Party at John's sister's Amy's end-of-the-school-year huge celebraton! There is always amazing food, fun, laughter.

EMMA COMES HOME TOMORROW!

Big hugs and kisses! We've missed you!

John says, "Tell your husband..."

"...if he will take couple pictures with you there will be more kissing..."

Matching is Cute

We both really like this color, and it is funny to me when we end up wearing it on the same day.

Eyes Only For You (Happy B-Day DAVID!)

Our kids know by now that we are trying to take a daily couple photo. This was a week ago, Saturday. John is holding the camera, pointing it towards us, then looking at me at the last minute. The last few seconds before John pressed the button, Stewart, who was sitting in the row in front of us, leaned sligtly to his left and inserted himself into our couple shot. This picture makes Maxwell laugh to no end.

And we were oblivious parents until downloading the photos.
