If you are in UTAH right now, I highly suggest you go down to the BYU art gallery, north of the HFAC, all the way to the basement to see this exhibit:

Loved this painting:  on route 89 Springville, UT framing shop/gallery on west side of road before you get to library.

 

He does great angels, religious themes...

And there is something about seeing them in person, the textures, the SIZE

Family Far Away

First, for Suzanna:  black F string was broken when I got home.  White B string broke sometime Friday when I was at work (it was one that I had tuned on Thursday, and it wasn't broken Fri am during seminary, did I tune it too far?)

Suzanna, Roxie, Sam before headed to Renaissance "Time Travelling" Fair in PA before she left for college!  They had a great time together.

Sam had a birthday while I was gone.  This is the Milkyway cake I made him before we left for a family celebration!  See the mini-candy bars edging the top?  See that homemade caramel oozing out from the edge?  I used my favorite caramel popcorn recipe, double batched so there was some for cake, some for popcorn.

Home Sweetness

Coming home tonight after a long, intense trip across the country.  Graduation traditions are pompous & fun.  Worth the trip out to see our oldest achieve this milestone.  BYU Education Week was wonderful and inspiring.  Shopping with my mom good.  Lunching with sisters good laughs.  Visiting family has been fun.  Hiking the Y was painful (using Steven's answer to Simon's question:  "What are you doing?"  "Trying to not have a heart attack!"  Moving college kids into apt & dorm finishes up today.  Cleaning, laundry, thank you notes, airport, luggage...home soon.

Button, Button...Necklaces

Enough buttons to color block long necklaces, my cheap jewels, crafted diy.

Button vs. bead:  flat, one "sided vs. in the round, but still beautiful colors!  Thanks to a sister at Church whose mom was an avid sewer, I have a collection of vintage buttons to share.  I pre-stung them on crochet cotton to make hostess gifts as we head west & take advantage of family hospitality.

Finished up some t-shirt rose necklaces for a sister missionary's wardrobe going to Brazil.  These help with modesty, a way to cover that too low neckline.  Trying on chain new idea from sister missionary serving here from Pleasant Grove, UT!  This is how she makes them, instead of recycling the t-shirt hem..

Blog Between You & Me sign maker, homemaker has Baptism of Christ painting by Georgia painter Cecel Allee in her dining room.  Had to show you.  And I like how she uses words, including collecting stones and writing blessings on them in sharpie pens.
